In his first speech on May 31, Qalibaf outlined the roadmap for a parliament filled with members of the Revolutionary Guards (CGRI, pasdaran) and corrupt elements of the Intelligence network. He recognized the critical and disunited situation of the regime and brought about some of the crises that threaten the Islamist regime. MEK Iran quoted a parr of the speech:
"The first threat is the reduction of the social capital of the state, which is the result of the managerial ineffectiveness of the country and the distance of those responsible from the principles of the revolution, creating economic challenges and preparing the ground for the unemployment and widespread social damage. Another threat is corruption, a concern over a phenomenon that has become institutionalized in various structures and has led to increased discrimination and dissatisfaction, and the breakdown of social justice."
MEK Iran news portal shared that Qalibaf made the remarks while being one of the main figures of corruption within the regime. As part of the internal fighting between rival factions, the official website Etehad Khabar, in an article published on May 30, identified him as a chief of theft and pillage in the mullahs' regime: "Now, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf is the head of a legislative power which intends to fight against corruption. The important question is: could we wipe a window with a dirty towel? Can a person accused of corruption be at the center of the fight against corruption? Of course, everything will be clarified after a while."
Qalibaf also said: “The country's disrupted administrative system is another threat that has affected good governance (…) What makes the situation more dangerous is the administrative model of the executive, which, with its ineffectiveness and his managerial confusion and his outward orientation does not believe in the principles and components of the jihadist management model. ”
As MEK Iran news portal further informs, Qalibaf also found any negotiations with the United States unsuccessful. While continuing to pursue terrorism and warmongering in the region, he described the leadership of Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of the mullahs, as the best opportunity for the regime. As regime influence in the region was shaken after the elimination of Qassem Soleimani [leader of the (terrorist) Qods of Revolutionary Guards] force, Qalibaf said, “The success of our system has been made possible. thanks to the efforts of people like Qassem Soleimani (…) The Eleventh Majlis [parliament] considers powerful confrontation with foreign enemies, especially the United States and the Zionist regime, as one of its basic principles, and will not hesitate to face opposition and internal hypocrites. The 11th parliament has pledged to continue the path of the martyr Soleimani by increasing the power of the Axis of Resistance as an unchanging strategy. He considers that supporting the Palestinian people, Hezbollah in Lebanon, resistance groups, Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the oppressed people of Yemen is his revolutionary and national duty. Negotiation and compromise with the United States as the axis of global arrogance is fruitless and harmful. "
MEK Iran news portal points out that Qalibaf’s speech provides a complete picture of the impasse he is entangled in. Ali Khamenei, in a meeting with the Basijis paramilitaries in the universities, described the establishment of a "young and Hezbollahi government" as the only way to save the regime. He said that by a young and Hezbollahi government he meant someone like Qassem Soleimani, the eliminated commander of the Quds Force.
This critical situation, greatly multiplied by the coronavirus crisis, frightened the regime's forces and pushed them to the brink of defection. They are particularly afraid of the uprising of the population, because the fire under the ashes could rise again. In this regard, Khamenei has warned, with unprecedented frankness, the Iranian youth against any inclination towards the MEK Iran. He warned them not to help the enemy recruit militants.
In order to cheer up his demoralized forces, Khamenei seeks to fulfill his long-standing dream of unifying his regime. But in reality, it turned out that the new Majlis, even after a dozen times of filtering, is another place of internal struggles. With the intensification of factional differences, the crisis will be more intense than before in power.
In other words, as the resistance organization, MEK Iran, claims, unifying this regime requires a capacity that does not exist in the regime. But above all, Khamenei clearly showed the strategic roadmap of his regime, which is a policy of withdrawal in all aspects, including in its relations with the world.
