Iran: Unlimited Storage of Enriched Uranium, Heavy Water and Reconsideration of Commitment to Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and Additional Protocol

The news portal of MEK Iran has informed that in an interview with the Fars News Agency on April 5, Ali Akbar Salehi, head of the Iranian regime's Atomic Energy Organization, said: “Nuclear activities, such as research and development on the nuclear fuel cycle, conversion uranium and enrichment (including production and storage) are carried out without any restriction. The production and accumulation of enriched uranium is now as high as before the nuclear deal, heavy water storage completed without restrictions, the construction process for the Arak Heavy Water Research Reactor (new design) is proceeding in cooperation with foreign parties and the use of related equipment.”

“Despite the JCPOA (nuclear deal), many research activities have continued (such as research on high-quality, high-performance centrifuges). It is a logical combination of improving quality and increasing quantity, how to use new centrifuges, in addition to increasing the quantity of old machines in operation,” he added.

As the MEK Iran news portal further informed, while the mullahs regime is already violating the nuclear agreement and the NPT by refusing to allow IAEA inspections, Salehi admitted that the regime is considering "reviewing its commitment to the Additional Protocol and the NPT", while accusing the IAEA to spy, he said: "The IAEA should not be a complementary tool in the hands of the intelligence services of some countries, and should be used to verify information that confirms espionage activities." Last month, the IAEA Director General said that the regime had prevented its inspectors from having access and "had not provided us with the information we wanted. They did not allow us, as far as I am concerned, we need to take action . Iran is preventing the IAEA from doing its job."

According to MEK Iran, the Iranian opposition organization, nuclear weapons project and continues to hide and provide false and misleading information while accelerating its illegal nuclear activities by capitalizing on the global Coronavirus crisis. Following the signing of the nuclear agreement on July 14, 2015, Ms Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), and leader of MEK Iran, stressed that circumventing six Security Council resolutions would not prevent the deception of the mullahs and his quest to obtain an atomic bomb.
